DDOT To Host Public Meeting on Safety Improvement Project for 17th and 19th Streets

Community Stakeholders Are Encouraged to Attend and Provide Input on Transportation Safety Improvements

(Washington, D.C.) On Monday, June 25 the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) will host a public meeting to begin discussing roadway improvements to enhance pedestrian and vehicular safety on 17th and 19th Streets between Benning Road, NE and Potomac Avenue, SE.

As part of the safety improvement initiative for this corridor DDOT is further evaluating the transportation safety improvements that were identified in the 2006 Capitol Hill Infrastructure Study to determine which improvements will be most feasible to implement.  Included in the improvements that are being evaluated for this corridor are new roadway markings and signage, curb extensions (also known as bulb-outs), ADA sidewalk ramps and traffic signal upgrades.

This meeting is the first in a series of public meetings that will be held to share information and collect input to determine the safety improvements for the corridor.

For more information about this meeting or safety improvement initiative please contact the project manager Mr. Errol Williams at 202-347-1446 or errol.williams@mckissackdc.com.
