Kingman Park Flag Designs mentioned in City Paper

Neighborhood News Roundup

A Map Fit for a King: Kingman Park residents are in the process of voting for a new flag that will be displayed on their lamp posts. Currently, the most popular flag—with 36 out of 57 votes—has a picture of a map of the neighborhood when it was established in 1928.  Although most commenters like the map, they want Kingman Park to stand out more, “I like the map flag, but am concerned that the name ‘Kingman Park’ doesn’t ‘pop’ enough. The word ‘park’ seems to blend into the map some, would like it if there were a little more contrast,” writes one.

DCPS Beautification Day

Calling all volunteers!  DC Public School Beautification Day will be held this year on Saturday, August 20, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

This annual event was established in  2005 as a citywide “spruce up” of all DC public school buildings in  preparation for the first day of school.

Beautification efforts will include gardening, trash pick-up, light painting, indoor cleaning, and  other beautification efforts.

Join your neighbors, classmates, teachers and friends in helping to spruce up your local DCPS in preparation for the start of a new school year. Kids are welcome!

Today is the last day to register for this event, check here for more information.
