Barracks Row’s Taste of 8th

Taste of 8th Forks

Barracks Row’s Taste of 8th is scheduled for Saturday, April 28th, 2012, from 1-4 p.m.

Barracks Row is regarded as a culinary destination, and Taste of 8th is the easiest way to sample many of our restaurants. Tickets are $5.00 for a single tasting, equivalent to a tapas or small plate portion, or five tickets for $20.00 (90% of people buy the five ticket package per person so they can sample the most restaurants). Ticket sales benefit Barracks Row Main Street’s year-round work to maintain a clean, safe and beautiful community for residents and businesses.

Nearly twenty of our finest restaurants will present tastings of their signature dishes during Taste of 8th 2011. Barracks Row Main Street looks forward to welcoming the newest restaurants on 8th Street and showcasing many of our longtime favorites, including but in no way limited to:

Capital City Diner Closes Its Doors!

Friends,

We sincerely appreciate your support, patronage, and– most of all– friendship over the past two years. You’re more than customers; you’re our friends and neighbors.

Although we received positive response to our recent improvements, we also encountered rising costs, a declining economy, and a national chain “diner” restaurant opening almost a stone’s throw away. Now, we must refocus and reformat our restaurant to move forward.

This weekend, we’ll open from 7am until 6pm on Saturday and Sunday so that we can meet up one last time to say good-bye before we close to reformat and improve our concept.

Again, thank you for your support and encouragement, we’d love to see you one last time at the old diner to say good-bye this weekend.

Sincerely,
Matt & the Capital City Diner crew

Capitol Hill Cupcake Bakery is Closing

Wedding cupcakes Stock Photo - 5829407

Dear Patrons,

Over ten weeks have elapsed since we opened the window at the Capitol Hill Bakery, ex-Cafe Roma, to introduce you to our gourmet cupcakes.  Once again, you showed your support by visiting our store and purchasing the cupcakes and expressing your encouragement.  We are very grateful for this continued support, and we will endeavour to excel in serving you in the future.

As you know, given its location, our store is not yet ideal for retail activity.  Many people tell us that the development of the entire neighbourhood is some years down the road.  We know this from the experience of Cafe Roma, and it was confirmed these days as the flow of customers does not cover the costs of operations.  The reason for opening our store during the weekends was merely to introduce our products to our patrons and to establish direct contact.  Therefore, we would like to inform you that the storefront of Capitol Hill Cupcakes, will close on Sunday, October 30st.

However, we would like to explain to our patrons that the operations of the bakery is open, and that you can place your orders any time during the week days, provided that you give us twenty-four hours lead time.  In addition, we are in the process of acquiring a food truck; hence we will be able to serve you better by bringing our products to your area.

We will keep you informed about the launch of the food truck operations soon.

Thank you once again for your kind support.
