DDOT Celebrates Completion of Local 11th Street Bridge on September 7  

Community Invited for Afternoon of Music, Food
and Fun for the Entire Family

 

(Washington D.C.) The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) cordially invites to the 11thStreet Local Bridge Community Celebration and Bridge Dedication on September 7, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Come join city officials, community leaders and businesses from Anacostia and Capitol Hill on the 11th Street Local Bridge for family- friendly activities, music and food. Additionally, officials will dedicate a plaque naming the new Local 11th Street Bridge as the “11th Street, Officer Kevin J. Welsh Memorial Bridge.”

 The 11th Street Local Bridge will be transformed into a family-friendly venue featuring a main stage for entertainment, a variety of local food trucks and speakers from various District agencies.  Attendees can visit table top booths to get more information about DDOT’s programs and initiatives as well as other District agencies at the “Information Lane.”    Photo opportunities will be available from the local bridge’s scenic overlooks, which offer tranquil views of the Anacostia River and Nationals Park.

 
Transportation and Parking Accommodations

Free transportation to and from the event will be provided by DC Circulator buses. ADA-compliant shuttle buses will be provided to transport people with disabilities from the entrance points to the bridge to various locations along the bridge.

 

Passenger pick-up locations:·        Anacostia Metro Station (Green Line)

·        Eastern Market Metro Station (Blue/Orange Line)

Free Parking:

·        (Capitol Hill) – 1301 M Street SE (DC Circulator will pick-up and drop off at the entrance of the bridge)

·        (Anacostia) – Curtis Brothers Parking Lot, 2241 Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue SE (DC Circulator will pick-up and drop off at the entrance of the bridge)
